CONTEMPORARY BERBER CARPETS

Traditionally, Berber carpets were hand-knotted by Moroccan tribal peoples from undyed wool. Their designs were almost simple and ranged from ordered geometric shapes to more free-form expressive patterns, as ancient heritage passed down from weaver to weaver. Particularly, this Berber carpets, with a more or less high pile, feature natural shades and mostly brown, grey and black designs but they can also be very colorful. Disclosed by mid century modernist designers, such as Le Corbusier, and loved by artists of the 20th century. the likes of Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky and Yves Saint Laurent, these charming carpets are still now produced and widely collected, since their ancient minimalistic design suit perfectly contemporary interiors.
